This is my blog that follows swimming & diving in Winona MN and those Winonans that have left to swim elsewhere. Occasionally I will post items of info related to swimming & diving in general.

All kinds of Racing going on

It is that time of the Winter, all things Swimming come to a head. Between now and the end of March, numerous major EOY meets are in action and I will try to give you a heads up and what is going on and who from Winona we might look for.

First:

Mar 12 - 15 The MN 2009 Short Course Senior State Championships for MSI Swimming take place in Rochester MN. This is a 3 ½ day prelim/finals meet for all 13-14, 15-16 and Senior swimmers with Champ times from all zones including Minnesota’s out state swimmers. I have not yet seen a psyc sheet to see who we might know is entered, but as soon as I see anything I will post it.

March 12 - 15 Is the Speedo Champions Series at the Walter Shroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, WI. The meet is open to those USA Swimming athletes registered in the following LSCs: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Lake Erie.

Our Own Matt Papenfuss is entered. On the psych sheet he is listed 3rd in the 200 FR at 1:39.60, 9th in the 50 FR at 20.79, and 5th in the 100 FR at 45.57. He is also entered in the 500 FR.

Other notable I saw was Erin Caflish the Rochester Mayo Jr. entered in a number of events. Some may remember her from last year's girl HS season finishing just behind Abbey Staats in the 50 and 100 FR.

Next week March 18 - 21 the NCAA Div III Nationals will take place at the U of M. John Fox from Saint Mary's University is entered in the 100 BR. I will get you more info on where he is seeded as we get closer.

For the U of MN the Women are at NCAA Div Championships in College Station, TX that same Mar 18 - 21 and the Men will have their NCAA Div I on March 25 - 28 also in College Station, TX.
