Univ of MN Intrasquad Meet

On Friday the 16th, the University of MN Gophers held its season kickoff Intrasquad meet.


Former Winona Swimmers Matt Papenfuss and Abbey Staats were both in action.

Matt swam for the Men’s Maroon Team and placed 3rd in the 200FR swimming 1:42.38. His splits were 24.38, 26.20, 25.63, and 26.17. He placed 3rd in the 100FR swimming 47.03 with splits of 10.87, 11.99, 12.26 and 11.91. He placed 3rd in the 100BF swimming 51.95 with splits of 11.05, 13.21, 13.68 and 14.01. and the 3rd leg of the 200Fr Relay in 21.29 that placed 2nd.

Abbey swam on the Women’s Maroon Team. She was the anchor leg on the 200 Med Relay placing 4th but swam her anchor in 24.04. Abbey took 4th in the 50FR swimming a 24.53 with splits of 12.16 and 12.37. She placed 3rd in the 100FR swimming in 52.92 and splits of 12.11 13.71 13.52 and 13.58. Lastly she swam the 2nd leg of the 200Fr Relay swimming a 24.18 and placing 2nd in 1:37.05.
