NCAA Div II Championships

I have talked about the upcoming Div I & Div III Championships but totally ignored the Div II Championships. they were held last weekend I just realized.

I will highlight the results here BECAUSE there are a fair number of Midwest Teams represented at the Championships.

There are articles in this month's USA Swimming Splash Magazine talking about swimming opportunities in the post secondary (college) ranks. I bring this up because yours truly is a big proponent of swimming and more to the point diving, in college while you pursue your degree. Being on a swim team was a great augmentation of my college experience. Being associated with the team really helped with my orientation and acclimation to college life. I still had friends and did things away from my team mates, but having the team as a base, a grounding made the whole "freshman" experience much less stressful. As a dormitory head resident my JR & SR years (free room & board don't ya know), I dealt with MANY freshman issues. (My senior year 33 of the 36 students in my dorm building were freshmen, the rest were transfers). SO I know of what I speak. In my case I was going for the engineering school, but as long as I could dive at the same time, earn a little work study life guarding, what the heck. As a result, I still keep in touch with college swim buddies, some are on my Facebook. We have a reunion every three years and some I bump into as I referee the HS and college circuit, (Brian Luke Head coach at Stillwater HS and Charley Fuller coach at Faribault are both fellow alums).

Anyway, I digress.
