The Winona Winhawk JV’ers travelled to Owatonna to flex
their muscles a little and see how they compare to the other Big 9 JV’ers.
There were some great swims pointing to some great Winhawks of the future as
well as some dedicated veterans that love to swim!
The 200 Medley Relay had 3 entries and they all did well.
The team of Emma Hanson, Kylie Konkel, Natasha Lewis and Sela Kosidowski
swimming in Lane 3 of the 3rd heat improved on that to finish 11th
overall. The team of Morgan Crowson, Jaynie Olsen, Abbey Wehman and Elly Olsen improved
on their seeding to move up to 6th overall and the highest finishing
“B” relay. The “A” Relay of Lauren Whyte, Kylie Lemmer, Alana Everett and Kailee
Alsens finished in 5th overall!
The 200 Freestyle saw huge gains with Janessa Burch
improving on her seed dropping 2 ½ seconds to finish 15th overall
and young Lauren Whyte swimming out of Lane 1 dropped 6 ½ seconds to move up 4
spots to finish 7th overall.
The 200 IM maybe saw the biggest gains all evening. The
Winhawks owned half the spots in the first heat and outshone the bunch. Jaynie
Olsen dropped 9 ½ seconds to improve two spots to finish 10th overall.
Kaza Pozanc improved a spot while dropping 5 ½ seconds and 8th but
Alana Everett shaved 11 seconds off her 10th seed to win the heat
and move up to finish 7th overall!
The 50 Freestyle had the majority of the competitors entered
and the Winhawks were no exception. The “Splash and Dash” is pretty short to
cut big time but some of the Winhawks managed it! Key swims from the Winhawks
included Lilly Beyer moving up 9 spots from her seed in dropping over a half
second. Emma Hanson shaves over 1 ½ seconds and moves up 20 spots from her
seed. Kylie Konkel cut nearly 1 ½ seconds moving from 35th seed to
24th overall. Kailee Alsens shaved a half second but it in the 50
that means moving from the 9th seed to 4th overall!
The diving had the Winhawks represented by Anna White
finishing 20th and Brynn Strange finishing 15th.
The 100 Butterfly had but 7 competitors and 1 Winhawk,
Abbey Wehman. She slashed over 4 seconds off her seed to finish 3rd
place overall!
The 100 Freestyle had a large number of entrants and Winhawks
in it. Key swims included Lilly Beyer riding her 50 performance momentum to
move up 9 spots shaving nearly 2 seconds from her seed. Zoe Kingsmore slashed
2.1 seconds from her seed to jump 7 places higher. Janessa Burch likewise cut
2.2 seconds and improved 6 spots. Alana Everett continuing her great night
dropping 3.8 seconds from her seed and improving 9 spots to finish 14th
overall. Ashley Brommerich swam close to her seed to move up and finish 8th
overall and Kailee Alsens repeated as the Winhawks’ fastest sprinter of the
night dropping nearly a second to finish 5th overall.
The 500 Freestyle had one Winhawk entry, Natasha Lewis
finished 9th overall.
The 200 Free Relay had 3 Winhawk entries. The Winhawk “C”
relay of Jaynie Olsen, Zoe Kingsmore, Lilly Beyer and Kylie Konkel was the highest
finishing “C” relay and placed 13th. Likewise, the “B” Relay of
Morgan Crowson, Kaza Pozanc, Sela Kosidowski and Abbey Wehman were not only the
highest placing “B” relay but also beat one “A” relay in finishing 6th
overall. The “SA” Relay of Kailee Alsens, Alana Everitt, Elly Olsen and Ashley
Brommerich led from early on and finished in 2nd overall!
The 100 Backstroke also had some eyebrow raising swims,
Emma Hansen dropped 8.5 seconds to move up to 17th overall! Morgan
Crowson dropped a full 1 ½ seconds to claim 14t overall. Kaza Pozanc slashed 4
seconds from her seed to move from 13th seed to 8th
overall and Lauren Whyte finished 7th overall cutting 7 tenths off
her seed!
The 100 Breaststroke had three Winhawks. Kylie Konkel and
Jaynie Olsen swam their seeds to 10th and 8th respectively.
Kylie Lemmer dropped a full second off her seed and moved up to finish 5th
overall!
The 400 Free Relay had but two Winhawk entries. Pozanc,
Hanson, Kingsmore and Beyer finished 13th overall and Lewis, Whyte,
Burch and Brommerich finished in 6th.
Overall, the Winhawk JV’ers had a great night with some
great drops after tapering!
