Twenty days into the Fall WSHS Girls' swim & dive season and barely a mention with no pictures in the Winona Daily News. I guess we need to start doing what seems so painful for the WDN staff to do, cover and talk about the swimmers and divers in Winona.
There have been over 3 dozen practices, mornings (one in the dark open air), afternoons and two home meets. The Winhawks (1-1-0) saw an opening season loss to a tough St. Michael Albertville Team (they finished ahead of the Winhawks at last year's State Meet and had two returning individual state qualifiers) and a win over Menomonie WI.
In time I will get caught up here with those results, post today's results and start profiling the Big 9 field.
Suffice it to say, today will be a GREAT meet to watch. The Nack sisters will be back in Winona. Guiding their Mankato West(1-1-0) team to an 8th place finish at last year's state championships, Danielle now a Junior, set new records in the 50 Free and 100 Fly. Chantal, now a Sophomore, was a finalist in the 200 Free and 500 Free.
