Worth the drive? YOU BET!!!!!!!!

The Winhawks (1-2-0) take on Faribault (2-1-0) Thursday night at Faribault High School. 

Faribault is coming off a rebuilding year, but it might be better characterized as a getting stronger year. They return Class A State Finalist Cecilia Hake, a backstroke and sprinter specialist along with State Qualifier Dani Behrens a freestyler who excels in the 50 up to and including the 500. Hake, when considering state-wide graduations from last year, is considered a solid contender for the State Championship in backstroke. 

The squads are quite similar, same size roster, very similar numbers by grade, both squads have power house swimmers. Look for Hake to dominate the 100 Back, Alex Zuelke will own the 100 Breaststroke. The 50 Free may end up being a barn burner between the two of them. Crystal Franzwa will shine in the diving competition with a nice head to head taking place between Falcon Lauren Hake and the Winhawks’ Janelle Mueller. The opening 200 Medley Relay will set the tone, both squads will be looking to score first and it should be a tight race. Look for Faribault to take an early lead and the Winhawks to reel them back in by the Freestyle for a great finish. The 200 IM could be a great back and forth affair between Winhawk Reese Galewski and Falcon Cora Showers. The Falcons have a pair of 6:10 500 Swimmers that would make a great target for O'Neill, Campbell and Porter. Lastly Haley O'Neill looks like she might have quiet water in front of her for the 200 Free and 100 Free.

This will be a great contest and one you might not want to miss. Especially because………you guessed it, we get to watch DIVING in the same venue as swimming!  For many of us it will be our first chance to see the Winhawk Diving Corp in action.
