This is my blog that follows swimming & diving in Winona MN and those Winonans that have left to swim elsewhere. Occasionally I will post items of info related to swimming & diving in general.

“Hey Cap, I think you better check this out. These girls look serious!”

It’s Tuesday night mid-season and time for the Winhawk/OH Border battle. Winona (3-2-0) (2-1-0) didn’t swim against Holmen Onalaska (1-2-0) last year, and maybe they should have.

The recollection is that there wasn’t much of a battle to the border battle in prior years, but lest we forget, we always get spotted 13 points for their lack of diving. Not diving prowess, just a lack of divers. That aside, with the venue change to the Onalaska YMCA, and if diving is not on the event list, things may look a little different.

How about:

A 200 medley relay: of Vada Williams, Kelsey Linzmeyer, Marlee Pronschinske, and Allison Carlisle @ 1:58.53.

200 freestyle: Marlee Pronschinske 2:08.72.

200 individual medley: Kelsey Linzmeyer 2:19.72.

50 freestyle: Allison Carlisle 25.25.

100 butterfly:  Marlee Pronschinske 1:06.89.

100 freestyle: Alison Carlisle 56.67.

100 backstroke: Vada Williams 1:07.55

100 Breaststroke: Mackayla Harding  1:14.91

All of them are underclasswomen, Freshmen through Juniors. Being a La Crosse area team, they get dissed as much as Winona when it comes to press coverage, so results are hard to come by. But from what I see so far, the Winhawks had better come prepared to assert their presence, as Holmen/Onalaska will be looking to reverse past fortunes. The Winhawks should be up for this, and depth will once again come into play, the 2-3-4th place finishers will determine, which side of the river is singing after this meet.

If you were on the fence, come on out and watch this one, it will be worth the drive AND the girls will need YOUR support!
