The State True Team Meets are over and the results in. Class AA rads lkike a who's who of HS swimming is a lot of the same teams as last year, just in a different order. The big item is Stillwater having its six year reign brought to a close by the slimmest of margins. Class A is full of new names, as might be expected for the outstate programs. The Big 9 is well represented with Austin and Mankato West placing 5 & 6 respectively.
I included last year’s results to show the change over in programs.

A Sea Change In 2A Girls’ True Team Swimming and Diving Posted by John Millea (jmillea@mshsl.org) - Updated 10/22/2010 12:40:03 AM
Before this year, six Class 2A state True Team girls’ swimming and diving meets had been held. Stillwater had won them all and the Ponies almost ran their streak to seven on Thursday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
But Wayzata, which had finished second twice and third twice, surged in the late events to claim the state title. Wayzata had 2,339 points, followed in the top five among 12 teams by Stillwater at 2,310, Edina at 1,915.5, Maple Grove at 1,661 and Mounds View at 1,428.
Hannah Bowen had the only first-place finishes for Stillwater, capturing the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Wayzata won four events, including the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Edina also won four events.
Wayzata and Stillwater both broke the meet record for most points. The Ponies had held the previous record of 2,270, set last year.

Monticello Girls Capture 1A True Team Swim & Dive Title Posted by John Millea (jmillea@mshsl.org)- Updated 10/23/2010 12:57:22 AM
Monticello set a new team scoring record in winning the Class 1A True Team girls’ state swimming and diving championship Friday night at the U of M Aquatic Center.
The Magic (pictured) had 2,149 points, eclipsing the record of 2,071 set by (who else?) Monticello in 2008, the only previous title for the Magic. Hutchinson was second Friday with 2,061 points, followed by Visitation at 1,952.5, Northfield at 1,609 and Blake at 1,451.
Monticello won the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay, and other winners for the Magic were Caley Oquist in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and Amanda Paulson in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
