The 2013 MN State Boy’s Swimming & Diving Championships start Thursday with Diving Prelims. Winona Winhawks Senior Jake Johnson will be
appearing as a result of his 2nd place finish at the Section 1AA
Championships 100 Yard Breaststroke Final. He will be in Lane 4 of the first
heat of Preliminaries on Friday evening. Jake swam a 1:02.71 at Sections, his
previous best was a 1:05.76 last year. He started the season at 1:11 low and
made solid steady progress.

Former Winona Winhawk Justin Bublitz was named the WIAC
Diver of the 2013 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)
Championships after placing third in the three-meter competition (459.15)
and winning the one-meter crown (498.90 points). The University of Wisconsin-La
Crosse men's swimming & diving team placed second at the meet. The Eagles
finished with 769 points while UW-Stevens Point took the team title with 779.
It is the 12th time in the last 13 seasons UW-L has placed second.
The 10-point margin of victory is the closest in the conference since 1983.
UW-Whitewater was third (711 points) Saturday followed by UW-Eau Claire (606), UW-River Falls (229) and UW-Oshkosh (151).

Former Winhawk Mackenzie Brosnahan was recently in action in
Chicago swimming for her Emery Eagles. She placed first in the 50 Freestyle,
exhibitioned in the 100 Butterfly, and took 2nd in the 100
Freestyle. She also swam a few time trials during the meet.
