This is my blog that follows swimming & diving in Winona MN and those Winonans that have left to swim elsewhere. Occasionally I will post items of info related to swimming & diving in general.

Correction: Winhawks wait for OHS to cross the border

The Winona Winhawks will swim against the combined Onalaska/Holmen team next Monday night February 1st at the WSHS Pool.

It is hard to preview the meet for you as it appears the OHS Boys get even worse press coverage than Winona SHS Swimming. I could only find one reference to their season to date. The results from an Invitational they participated in Middleton Wisconsin. A meet that included some real powerhouses, OHS was listed as being there but not scoring a point.

  • Team scores: Madison Memorial 166, McFarland 140, Madison West 115, Middleton 98, Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights 78, Verona/Mt. Horeb 66, Greenfield/Greendale 65, Marquette 62, Madison East 49, Chippewa Falls 45, Baraboo 22, Janesville Craig 18. (Logan/Central 0, Holmen/Onalaska 0)

The Winhawks are three fourths of the way through the season and will be wrapping up their final phase of conditioning in preparation for their taper. Just three dual meets left to swim & dive and then the fun times with Big 9 meet in Austin, Sections in Rochester and State in Minneapolis.
