Prelims at the MN State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships

Day one is over and some surprises made up part of the action for the Winona Winhawks.

In the 200 Medley Relay, the Winhawks were disqualified for a stroke violation.

The 50 Freestyle saw Sr. Co-Captain Ryan Whalen actually swim a hair slower than his seed time to qualify 4th

The 100 Freestyle was surprise as Ryan again swam under over his seed time and ended up in the Consolation Round.

The 200 Freestyle Relay swam to a 12 place finish for a spot in Saturday’s Consolation Final. Louie LaPorta led of wit ha 23.70, Sr. Jonathan Birdsall followed up with a 23.24. Sr. Ryan Whalen posted a 21.16 and Roger Brosnahan finished up with a sizzling 21.89.
